Hi, my name is Madeline, and I am a musician and music educator from Nashville, Tennessee. I have been a student of music for over 15 years. My musical influences include classical wind ensembles, Latin music, and contemporary singer-songwriters, and I also enjoy playing in community groups and exploring different musical styles. My teaching style can best be described as patient, encouraging, and adaptable to each student’s needs. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe music should build both skill and confidence, while always remaining fun and inspiring. In my lessons, you can expect to learn solid fundamentals, technique, and musicianship while applying them to songs you actually enjoy playing. I like to tell my students that progress is built step by step, and every small success is worth celebrating. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing students light up when they realize they can do something they didn’t think was possible. My favorite performance was playing with my cumbia band, Yolanda Cruz and the Daydreamers, which showed me how joyful and powerful music feels when it brings people together. My students love that I make lessons engaging and supportive, creating a space where they can be themselves and grow as musicians. I primarily teach clarinet, beginning piano, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba, but I can also teach music theory and general music skills. My approach as a teacher is to meet students where they are and guide them toward their goals with patience and encouragement.
