Hi, my name is Michael, and I am a trumpet player, rapper, singer, bassist, songwriter, and producer from Brownsville, TX. I have been involved with music ever since I was a little kid, and now I have just graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. My musical influences include hip-hop, jazz, rock, pop, and I also enjoy classical, folk, mariachi, metal, and Latin American music. My teaching style can best be described as tailored to the students' needs. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe in having a solid foundation and making sure that it is consistent, in order to build vocabulary and develop techniques through your instrument. It must slowly and seamlessly become a part of you! In my lessons, you can expect to learn a routine to have a solid foundation and have your needs met. I like to tell my students to think of our practice as a meditation session. You are learning to connect with the instrument and thus, yourself! My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the progress that my students have made and seeing the impact they have made on me as a teacher. I am always learning from them! I primarily teach trumpet, voice, bass, and drums, but I can also teach songwriting, production, and piano.
