To Whom it May Concern: This is a letter or recommendation on behalf of Sarah Grace. Sarah has been my private voice student for 9 years. However, I first met Sarah when she was in the third grade. I was her elementary music teacher and she performed the lead in our school musical. Sarah’s love for singing and joy when performing were inspiring and infectious. From an early age, her indomitable spirit was evident. I had no idea at the time how incredibly strong she was. When she turned 10, I began giving her private voice lessons. Sarah loved to sing, and while I rarely accepted children at such a young age for private lessons, Sarah demonstrated unusual maturity. As a student, Sarah is highly teachable and an enthusiastic learner. She poses thoughtful questions and demands more than a basic understanding of technique. She delves deeply into the subject and gives her whole self to the process, incorporating her understanding into her practice. She arrives on time to lessons ready to be challenged and full of curiosity about the music she is learning. She adjusts quickly to changes and is able to accept criticism. Sarah is comfortable in a variety of styles including musical theater, country and pop. In addition to her love of singing, Sarah enjoys participating in theater. She has performed leads in numerous productions with both community and professional regional theaters. Her many years involved in theater have helped her to develop into a sensitive artist who is not only a singer, but a storyteller. On a personal level, I have a deep admiration for Sarah. Her fortitude, determination and perseverance are unmatched. In 2017, Sarah was diagnosed with a rare and potentially fatal disease known as Primary HLH or Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytstosis. HLH causes immune dysregulation. White blood cells can build up and attack her organs, destroying other blood cells. Sarah is currently undergoing regular treatments and while it is helping her to stay out of the hospital, she continues to struggle with complications to her health as a result of her condition. But Sarah will not be deterred. She is a fighter. Through it all she continues to chase her dreams, to write new music, to perform and to audition. Sarah is a powerful artist and soulful singer whose talent is certain to make a lasting impact on others. HLH aside, Sarah has the talent, tenacity and determination to rise up again and again. I recommend her highly without the slightest reservation. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Marlene Inman, B.M., M.M., S.M. wrote on Mon, 30 Nov -0001
