Sophia A.

Hello! I am Sophi, a vocalist and prospective K-12 educator from Richmond, Virginia. Currently, I am in my 5th semester at Berklee College of Music, and I am majoring in Music Education. I began singing formally in choir at age 12, and have since won many show choir and standstill competitions, as well as become a paid singer. Throughout high school, I attended Virginia All State Choir for four consecutive years and placed #1 soprano my sophomore year. I have been in two Musicals as well, playing Katherine in Newsies and Pearl in Spongebob the Musical. Additionally, I’ve been enrolled in private voice lessons for over 8 years. Since then, I’ve had extensive private vocal training in musical theatre, classical, jazz, and pop. I am currently receiving training to become a certified K-12 music educator. Throughout my time at Berklee, I’ve become familiar with piano, guitar, and saxophone. In the past, I have given private lessons for audition preparation. My lessons have included picking effective repertoire, learning healthy vocal tips and techniques, music theory and aural skills, and rehearsal habits to build confidence and vocal strength. Through these lessons, I found joy in teaching others the foundational skills to tell a story in their music. I believe that creating a strong musical foundation opens doors the to creativity. I strive to provide students the tools to become storytellers and musicians in their own lives.
