Maureen has always loved music from an early age. She began playing violin at the age of 8, and guitar at the age of 14. She has continued her education by playing violin in the District Honors Orchestra in 2025, joining in the first girl's jazz combo at her school, and performing guitar gigs since early 2025. Her musical influences include her orchestra teacher, composers like Shostakovich and Sibellius, and bands like Pink Floyd. Maureen's favorite thing about music is how it can connect to everybody and her favorite thing about teaching music is seeing how much a student can grow. One of her favorite teaching experiences was seeing how happy one of her students was when she finally learned one of her favorite songs on the violin.
