About Me
International recording artist Freedom Imani—a singer, songwriter, model, and vocal coach born in Baltimore, Maryland, started his musical journey at the early age of 7. He released his first Gospel single “I’m Still Here” after winning a “Heaven 600 Gospel” radio competition at 12 years old. Later, he released his second Gospel single “Overcomer” in 2010. Which was produced by Grammy Award winner JOSH LAY. In 2014, Freedom Imani’s song “So In Love” was featured on Grammy Award winner Eric Seats’ “Project Sidiooo”. Freedom was selected as the lead singer of the legendary band Pockets in 2014, recording three albums under the production guidance of Earth Wind and Fire’s Verdine White and Robert Wright. Freedom was blessed to tour and record some of their greatest hit songs: “Come Go with Me” (1977) and ”Pasado” (1978). In this year, Pockets released their US/UK single entitled “Sing A Message”. This song became an anthem and was featured on Luxury Soul 2017, a Funk/Soul UK compilation album. Freedom also joined forces with Larry Jacobs (the original lead singer of Pockets), and together with the band, toured in London with Breakwater. This opportunity significantly strengthened Freedom’s artistry. Freedom would continue to create and share his own music. “Breeve Live”, a live and unplugged jazz single, was released in 2017, and “It Feels Good” was released in 2019 with producer/composer Stuart Hart and Sonic Culture Studios, being featured in collaboration with Google Duo marketing efforts. “It Feels Good” undoubtedly became Stuart Hart’s new single, additionally featuring Freedom Imani on Apple Music, Nickelodeon’s The Loud House, and Super Bowl halftime commercial, among other things. Continuing in his collaboration with Stuart Hart and Sonic Culture Studios, Freedom recorded “Don’t Ever Let Me Go” and “Dance Floor”—both of which were featured on Season 1 of B.E.T.’s American Soul. “Dance Floor” became one of the hottest songs of the project, and “Don’t Ever Let Me Go” was featured on the 10th episode. On July 2nd, 2021, Freedom took DC by storm. Headlining Live At The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage for The Relax/Relate/Release DC 2021 Exchange, created by the Creative Nomads—a moment he will never forget. On September 10th, Freedom hit the stage to live pay tribute to our beacon of hope—Ms. Harriet Tubman—during the Fourth Annual Day of Resilience (alongside family descendants and Emmy & Academy Award winning sculptor Wesley Woffor), dedicating an inspiring, 13-foot bronze sculpture in her honor, coinciding with the bicentennial of her birth in Dorchester County, Maryland. Freedom has collaborated with and performed for artists & bands including, but not limited to: musicians of the artist Prince— Mike Scott & Greg Boyer, B.E.T.’s Founder/CEO Sheila C. Johnson, Ms. Deborah Beverly-Pugh, Frankie Beverly, Patti LaBelle, Quinton Jones, “TiffBass”, Ari O’Neal, FRYE, Sean Mars, Teeyo, Humble, Donnie Simpson, djSOUTA, Roberta Flack, Latoya Charleston, Avery Sunshine, Michael Barnes (Chef Umbra), Karen Clark shared, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Brian Fox, Jeffrey Walker, Lil ‘Mo, Mark Allen, Carl Wheeler, Yanna Crawley, Darryl Coley, Gwary (Lil G) Silk, Nache Nolastname, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Horus Michael, Kathy Taylor, Melba Moore, Ashford & Simpson, Meli’sa Morgan, Uche Agu, Paula Champion, Desiree Coleman Jackson, Algebra Blessett, The Soft Tones, and The Whispers, just to name a few.
