Hi, my name is Grace and I am a classically trained pianist from the Isle of Wight, VA. I have been a playing piano for 19 years, and have a bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. My favorites composers are Debussy and Bach. However, I also love the music from the Studio Ghibli movies by Joe Hisaishi. My teaching style is one of adaptability; I individualize the music and curriculum I use around the goals and interests of my student. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want everyone to experience the joy that comes with making music and playing fun pieces with ease. In my lessons, you can expect to learn music theory, music history, technical skills, and helpful practicing routines and guidelines. My favorite thing about teaching is helping people learn their favorite song and seeing the smile on their face! My students love that I am fun and willing to teach multiple genres. I primarily teach classical music, but I can also teach music from pop culture and church music. If you'd like to see what I've been working on recently, take a look at my instagram page ! Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon! Grace loves music because she loves having a positive effect on people's lives. She loves teaching piano because she enjoys teaching learning strategies and foundational techniques that will be effective no matter the level you are playing at and watching her students succeed because of it. Whether you are a beginner, returning to piano after a break, or have several years of experience under your belt, Grace can help you expand and enhance your playing. Grace is excited to learn how she can help you reach your musical goals. Signup now to schedule a meeting!

I've been taking lessons with Grace for well over six months now and I thoroughly enjoy it. She works with different learning styles and piano goals. The first big thing I wanted to learn was how to play my husband's favorite song from a movie, even though I couldn't really read music or play. We set it as a goal and, by having her as an instructor, I was able to learn the piece in about a month and get proficient at it by two months. She adapts her teaching style to her students, which is great if you have a different learning style for example, I'll always be terrible at sight reading but I'm good at memorizing pieces; she works with that and helps me with ergonomics so that playing doesn't hurt my hands. I'm very happy to have her as a piano instructor and highly recommend her!
