About Me

Are you a beginner guitarist / bassist wondering where in the world to start? Or maybe you're a more seasoned player looking to refine your music theory and knowledge of scales / modes? Perhaps you just want to polish your technique and learn some of your favorite songs? Regardless, come on down and let's rock! I have been playing guitar and bass for 25 years and, more importantly, absolutely love the instrument and sharing it with others. While traditionally trained in blues/rock, I also really enjoy playing metal, jazz, folk and more. I currently play in a post rock band here in Austin, TX. Learning guitar should be both fun and challenging. The fun keeps you wanting to practice and the challenge makes your practice yield results. Generally speaking for beginner students we will focus more on the fun learning your favorite songs, power chords, improvisation with pentatonic scales to make sure you're enjoying the instrument and building confidence. For more advanced students we will focus on arpeggio exercises, legato runs, mapping the fretboard, and demystifying those diatonic modes so that you don't hit the dreaded progress plateau!
