About Me

Hi, my name is Liam and I am a pianist with over a decade of experience in different areas, from jazz to baroque or Broadway to rock 'n' roll. I studied music composition at The Ohio State University, and recently transferred to Wright State with my focus being piano performance. Years teaching keyboard lessons at Guitar Center taught me how to apply my skills and knowledge of keyboard and music theory while tailoring lessons to a wide range of students, from young children to grandparents. Regardless of the age or experience level of the student, I always strive to find out what they enjoy playing or have always wanted to play!, whether it's Fur Elise or a song they heard on TikTok. For younger students I begin with an early method book, as I mostly used the guitar center book, but my lessons always involve hands-on exercises and invitations for the student to ask questions. Many students are interested in the "why" of music theory, chords, and sheet music, topics for which my studies in college have prepared me well. Overall, I focus on familiarizing the student with the keyboard, how to approach learning and practicing technique, and how to use what we learn to play whatever our heart desires.
