I am currently a student at Loyola University New Orleans, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies. I have been playing guitar since I was 11, and have accrued a large amount of performing experience in diverse settings. I am musically most well versed in jazz and music theory, and I connect these ideas to other styles of music that I encounter. I feel that as a teacher I would love to share this learning style with students to better help them find an all encompassing approach to better understanding their passion.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I believe in an open minded, holistic approach to learning and teaching music. Every musician has talents and weaknesses, as well as stylistic preferences and aversions. I feel that this combination makes each of us a unique artist, all with something new to contribute. As a teacher, I will work with students both to learn more about the music they appreciate the most, as well as exploring the concepts they are less experienced with. It is my goal to help students find the many possible connections of these different ideas, and learn to employ them all together. I am fascinated by music theory and I would love to share this passion with students who may feel intimidated by or even bored with theory. I also understand that theory is not what gets every player out of bed in the morning, so rest assured that I will provide as much guitar action as any student desires.

Studying Jazz Guitar at Loyola University New Orleans
Performing Experience:
I have been regularly playing small group jazz gigs since high school. Currently I am a member of the Young Bucks Jazz orchestra, which recently accompanied renowned vocalist Thais Clark at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro. I also gig around town with an alternative rock band “The Handgrenades”.
Experience Teaching:
I’ve given private lessons to other students as well as to friends I have made while working in the music industry. More often than not, these lessons are for musicians who are seeking to pick up the guitar but have experience on a different instrument, though I have also worked with beginners. I have also given lessons as a substitute teacher at NOLA school of music.
