About Me
Antoinette began her music studies as a VIOLINIST commencing private study with members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. She spent her high school years performing in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra under the direction of Leonard Slatkin. Then, she joined the Musicians Union. She performed orchestral music with the St. Louis Philharmonic and chamber music in string quartets. VOICE: Antoinette developed an interest in operatic repertoire while learning the Italian language at university. This is when she began her studies in classical voice. Then, she became a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus performing under the direction of Hans Vonk. She remained a member for four years. Her last year in the Symphony Chorus was also her first year in the Bach Society Chorus, where she remained for a year. Experience Teaching:
PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING: We explore a broad spectrum of music via instrumental and vocal technique; to advance the student’s learning capacity in order to develop a faculty of expression. SPECIFICS: My VIOLIN INSTRUCTION is a combination of three distinct types. First, is the Suzuki Method for beginners who cannot read music. Second, is the traditional Classical Method and third, my own personal method. The purpose of my personal method is to bridge the gap between those who don't know how to read music and haven't developed proper technique. My VOICE INSTRUCTION is a combination of traditional classical methodology originating from the Italian language and my own personal method created for those who are not classically trained. Per usual, I as a female, teach females and boy sopranos, before the voice change.
