Review About Me
I love many styles of music from folk to rap. Some of my favorite guitarists are Dave Rawlings, John Frusciante, and Robin Finck. I like to use both symmetrical shapes and scalar patterns for exercises in near equal measure. I'll often ask students to select a song they'd like to learn that they feel is within their skill level or close to it, and then break down the techniques it uses to help them learn it. I find it works better than just saying, "Put your fingers here."
HenryRu has over 20 years of music experience in the Columbus area.

Most recently I took a jazz improvisation class at Berklee school of music.
Private Education:
I took piano lessons for several years when I was younger and learned major scale harmony from the experience. My brother is an excellent guitarist and showed me how to carry the skills from piano over to guitar. I've spent the last several years learning from jazz theory texts and recordings. I practice between 2 to 5 hours a day.
Performing Experience:
I played on a Carnival Cruise ship in the show band. We played Broadway style revues as well as top 40 sets and live band karaoke. I was the lead guitarist in the cover band Plastercats for two years. I've played as a member of the rapper B. Yonest's band, co-headlining 7fest at Ohio University. I was a member of several hard rock bands in NYC.
