I started with piano lessons at six. I had an ear training teacher early on who helped me to develop perfect pitch. I played trumpet at school, and guitar in rock bands as a teenager. At 17 I settled on the bass and had a number of private teachers. After college I sought out the best private bass teachers I could find, and also took lessons in other areas of musical education, including composition, theory, conducting, vocals, and world music.

I've been a pro bassist for over thirty years and played many different kinds of music, including rock, jazz, classical, salsa, different latin styles, klezmer, and film music.

I've been a private teacher for over thirty years, and an instructor at a community college, and worked for non-profit music in the schools programs
