About Me

I have been teaching piano, guitar, and percussion in my home studio since 1997 and have hosted an annual recital of my students since 2000.

Marie Sch. has over 17 years of music experience in the Pinckney area.

Marie Sch. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons .

Formal Education:

My education includes a nursing diploma in 1973, music education degree from Eastern Michigan University, and many lessons, conferences and other music related seminars.

Private Education:

Piano lessons as a child and then latter at the university level while pursuing music education degree. Guitar lessons as a teen and young adult and also at the university level. Percussion lessons in high school and university level. Voice lessons at the university level.

Performing Experience:

I have been a singer in many choirs over the years, most notably, the Livingston County Chorale in Brighton, Michigan since 2001. I also have experience as a vocalist/guitarist in a wedding band, as a drummer in a country, classic rock 'n' roll and original music group, bass guitarist in a praise and worship band, and as percussionist in a community orchestra. I am active in church music at several churches in my community.

Experience Teaching:

For several years I taught music in a parochial school to middle school aged children but have focused mostly on private one-on-one studio teaching since 1997. I teach piano, guitar, and percussion to students of all ages from 7 years. Some of the method books I use are Bastien, Hal Leonard, Alfred, Faber & Faber, Wm. Monell, Mel Bay, FJH Young Beginner, Standard of Excellence, and Essential Elements. Music concepts are reinforced through the use of theory and technique activity books.
