Review About Me
I am a classical and jazz guitarist primarily, though I have experience in blues, folk, and original compositions. I graduated with a B.S. in Music Performance from Southern Oregon State College ( now Southern Oregon University ) in 1988. I have taught guitar for 25 years and have performed solo guitar music extensively. I have also performed in jazz groups and cover bands throughout my career. I specialize in teaching technique and music theory, and I emphasize the ability to play cleanly and expressively. I believe in the development of good practice habits so that students can progress rapidly and learn to play with fluidity, good tone, and consistency. I love both the nylon string ( classical ) and steel string guitar, and I teach basic electric guitar techniques as well. I love to improvise and create my own music, and enjoy teaching my students the art of making beautiful music.

Performing Experience:
Solo Guitarist for 25 years working in fine dining establishments, clubs, private events, etc. 15 years performing in a jazz duo with a horn player, providing bass/comp accompaniment. Various club bands that played rock, blues, reggae and jazz.
Experience Teaching:
I have taught at the college level for three years at Southern Oregon State College, and 25 years privately. I specialize in classical and jazz, but I also teach folk and blues styles. I emphasize the development of excellent technique and general musicianship. I enjoy teaching kids twelve years old and up.
