About Me

I teach beginning/intermediate/advanced voice, beginning piano, music improvisation, and composition to children, teens, and adults. I have taught music and drama to groups and individuals of all ages for thirty years. My desire is to instill a lifelong love of music and a basic knowledge of how music works, always adapting to the age and interests of the learner.  For both singers and musicians, I emphasize breathing, posture and healthy habits.  I emphasize a practical understanding of chord progressions, melodic lines and rhythmic structures on the keyboard. I help students create their own arrangements, whether for songs they choose or  for material they write themselves. I provide vocal coaching for students preparing for auditions or performing in recitals or musical theater. I teach groups how to sing harmony parts.  I have skills with sound reinforcement and recording.  As a Drama Therapist and Certified Music Practitioner I have worked with hundreds of  families, helping them set goals for their children (with or without special needs like ADHD, anxiety and autism.) I design lessons to meet each student's artistic and personal objectives, and I am dedicated to the satisfaction of everyone involved.
