After I left school with a degree in music performance I began to teach students. I worked for a while as an instructor at School of Rock and eventually moved to private lessons both out of my house and travel to their homes. I have taught students from 8 years old to over 50. I am very comfortable with teaching and feel like it is my natural calling. Its very easy for me to assess the student learning style and conform to a way of teaching that is most beneficial to them.
John G. has over 10 years of music experience in the Kansas City area.
Studied jazz guitar under Curtis Oberle and received a degree in music performance from Park University.
Studied mandolin under Bruce Graybill, National Mandolin Flatpicking Champion (2002).
I started performing out live solo during my college years, 2005-2009. I also formed and ran two bands since then. My current band is a bluegrass band and we have toured all over the US over the last 4 years. I've played at music festivals and the biggest crowd I've played in front of was @ 3,000.
Since 2009 I have been a teacher part time. I worked at school of rock and then moved to teaching privately out of my house or would traveled to the students house. I've taught guitar mainly but also have mandolin students. I have also taught bass, piano, drums and vocals.
