About Me

Sooyoun, Soprano Biography From volunteering as an elementary music teacher at the Washington Counseling Center to receiving the Opus music competition award (Alma Grande e Nobil Core (Mozart, K.578)), South Korean soprano, Sooyoun strives to advance and contribute her passion of music to society. She has been acknowledged by music professors, and world-class classical singers for her repute of performing a wide range of repertoire with an absolute commitment to expressing every song at its most organic level. While refining her technical limits during her undergraduate years at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County, Sooyoun also believed in the importance of teaching/mentoring other young musicians as a way of continuing the cycle of music education. Making the commitment of majoring in Voice Performance, Sooyoun achieved recognition by the Music Department of Howard Community College with consecutive (2012, 2013) Honors Recital programs throughout her academic years. Transferring to UMBC, she has beecontinuing her highly-acclaimed accomplishments by completing the yearly (2014, 2015, 2016) Department Recital programs. Sooyoun recently completed her Senior Recital at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County with arrangements including the 9 German Arias of George Frideric Handel followed by, Das Veilchen and Abendempfindung by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Nearing the completion of her journey as an undergraduate, Sooyoun is invested in the future expansion of musical repertoires. In addition, Sooyoun plans to spend her following years creating creative opportunities for musical comprehension and advancement in skills for other musicians sharing the same passion-the same understanding that life in itself is a form of music.
