I started playing music in a recorder band through grade school at approximately 8 years of age.  I moved on to clarinet, bass clarinet, and piano through the following years but found that I hade a passion for the guitar at age 12.  I played guitar in a few bands and continued to play through the age of 22 when a friend of mine left a bass guitar at my house and I realized that this was really where my passion lied.  I have played bass continuously (even made it my only professional instrument) through present and have had quite a few students through the years.  I feel that the most important thing to do with learning any instrument is to have fun doing it and constantly challenge yourself.
